This is just fascinating, if more than a little scary. I hope you’ll keep following and reporting on it as — I presume — more details about the pilots (and which one turned off the fuel supply) emerge. I don’t think any of us are ready to quit flying thx to appalling & dangerous staff shortages (can we spell ridiculous FAA cuts?) or to the very rare instances of pilots’ suicide-by-mass-murder. But we ordinary passengers would do well to stay well informed (as in Miles To Go) and perhaps to raise collective voices against DOGE stupidities.

Pilots flying with each other are in the best position to know how they're doing and if someone needs help. An anonymous system and a buddy system combined might help, yes?
